Firefighter Ewan Williamson, 35, died after a fire at the Balmoral Bar in Dalry Road, Edinburgh.

HUNDREDS of fire-fighters formed a silent guard of honour for their fallen friend and colleague Ewan Williamson as they line the route of his funeral cortege.

Brave Ewan died helping to tackle a ferocious pub blaze in his adopted hometown of Edinburgh.

He died in the very early hours of Sunday morning when a floor at the Balmoral Bar on the city’s Dalry Road collapsed on top of him as he and his colleagues tackled alcohol fuelled flames in the basement, helping to save 20 people including a baby from flats above.

With thanks forever.

I was rescued from my first floor flat on Downfield Place that night along with my partner and our dog. I will be thankful forever to the brave men and women who helped us that night and to Ewan and his family who paid the ultimate price for ours and others safety. Gone but never forgotten. With our most heartfelt thanks, Emily, Andy & Alfie.

Basketball Scotland

I am the Mother of the 12 year old who captained the Edinburgh girls team at the basketball tournament in Deans, Livingston, last weekend. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ewan's Fund for their sponsorship, it is much appreciated by all.

To A brave and courageous firefighter

We do not need a special day
To bring you to our minds,
For the days we do not think
of you
Are very hard to find.
If all the world was ours to give
We'd give it yes and more,
To see the face of Ewan
Come smiling through the door.

Rest in Peace ewan.jennifer.xx
